The article is an attempt to trace the importance of training delivery and how NLP helps a trainer, teacher or faculty easily achieve extraordinary by understanding the psychology of the audience. Training delivery is the very heart of any training event. It is the presentation that turns a seemingly mundane training session into an interesting and inspiring one. The quality and nature of the training delivery is the key as a training event’s success lies most importantly in effectiveness of training. The general perception is that good communication and time management skills enable a trainer to deliver training effectively. For example, spending ample time at the beginning of the training to introduce yourself and allow participants to know each other, complete mastery over training material delivery, listening skills etc. This way a trainer will be left concentrating only on the audience’s general needs. However, the fundamental parameter to judge effectiveness of training delivery is accomplishment of learning outcomes while maintaining audience interest and engagement as only a participative audience will be an efficient and productive human resource. Therefore, audience engagement is the crucial factor and forms backbone of training delivery. As keeping audience engaged and interested takes precedence, understanding audience psychology to achieve the same becomes vital. Here NLP, an approach to communication, personal development and psychotherapy with its proven techniques and method will help trainers including faculties and teachers not only connect, but positively influence their respective audiences despite their inherent differences in background, skills etc. First of all, analysis of Representational System or Five Main Sensory Modalities can help interpret thinking styles of audience and build a common ground between audiences and audience and trainer. This may help the trainer facilitate training through delivery method or methods most preferred by the audience. This provides trainer the ability to relate and reach participants, individually. Further, trainer is also able to listen to what audience is saying, verbally and non-verbally through Sub-modalities and Eye Accessing Cues. This helps trainer remain objective, show genuine concern to the participants and handle any situation in the training event not being affected personally. Secondly, to ensure understanding of personal progress by the participants and congruency in understanding concepts, the trainers can make use of NLP Frames. This can also be used to achieve participants’ outcome or goals at the event, thus giving prominence to goal attainment of the participants. Trainers can also reiterate NLP Presuppositions to boost confidence among the participants. Most importantly, using Meta Modelling and Milton Model, the trainers can influence and persuade the audience through use of question and answers that not only help them find the answers with an open-mind but also help them ask right questions. This also makes participants feel responsible for their learning. This not only adds value to the event, but also inculcates in them the thirst for self-learning and up-gradation of skill. A training event, either interactive or facilitative, it is resource person’s responsibility to ensure that audience finds the training productive. The effectiveness of training delivery as stated above is only enhanced with use of NLP by the trainers as it could facilitate them to change perceptions, motivate and develop the personality of the trainee. COACHING is unlocking people’s potential to maximise their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them. We all have a built-in, natural learning capability that is actually disrupted by instruction.
